How To Print Online Documents

When in the Library, you will need money on your Comet Card UTDollars account to print. You can add money to your account at the Cash Value Center machine at the following locations:

  • 2nd floor (main floor near the Information Commons) of McDermott Library
  • Bursar's office on the 1st floor of McDermott Library
  • Comet Center on the 2nd floor of the Student Union
  • Sonora Microcomputer Lab on the 1st floor of McDermott Library
The Library printers will only accept UT$ (money on the magnetic stripe on the back of your Comet Card).

Note: Print jobs remain on the printer (the “print queue”) for only 2 hours from the time they are sent. After that time, they will be deleted and cannot be recovered. Please watch your time when sending print jobs. Be safe by frequently saving files that you are working on to avoid lost print jobs.

To print a regular Web page (HTML document), you may use the “File -> Print” menu along the top of your browser, or click the print icon along the top of the browser’s tool bar.

The Library urges you to Print Preview (under the “File” menu option) your document before printing in order to determine the total number of pages to be printed.

HOWEVER, if you are printing an Adobe PDF document (a document opened in the Adobe Acrobat Reader), you MUST click the Adobe printer icon , NOT the browser’s print icon or the “File --> Print” menu option.

To determine the number of pages that will be printed, you can look to the bottom of the Adobe Acrobat window to see a page count.
