Troubleshooting Electronic Reserves

Tips for Accessing Electronic Reserve Files

1. Use one of the following browsers:

Windows - Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher
Windows – Netscape 4.0 or higher
Macintosh – Internet Explorer 4 or higher
Macintosh – Netscape 4.0 or higher
Electronic Reserve materials are best viewed using the latest version of your browser.

2. Cookies must be enabled.

3. Use the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader for pdf files. Download the latest version.

4. If you are using Windows XP, there is a built in firewall that may interfere with ERes when it is enabled.
To disable the Internet Connection Firewall:

Open Network Connections.
Click the Dial-up, LAN or High-Speed Internet connection
Under Network Tasks, click Change settings of this connection.
On the Advanced tab, under Internet Connection Firewall, make sure there is no check in the Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet.

5. You must disable pop up blockers in order to use ERes.

6. Running VPN on your PC can block access to e-journal articles. Turn off VPN before trying to access electronic course reserves.
