Historical Sketch

The History of Aviation Small Collections is composed of individual collections that are too small to support themselves on their own. Most of these collections are anywhere between one to three folders in size, or consist of a single object. This is an artificial collection, with the individual component collections identified by the Collection Number and name of the subject of the materials.

The History of Aviation Collection serves as a catchall group for aviation related material that does not fit into one of the Special Collections Department other subject areas. The collections presented here span the full history of aviation from the earliest days of flight to modern airliners. Collections represent both civil and military aviation. For an in depth look at the contents of a collection, please see its entry in the container list of this document.
