The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science celebrated its 30th anniversary with events throughout the 2016-17 school year, including lectures by Bill Nye “the Science Guy” and Richard K. Templeton, chairman of Texas Instruments.

The year of festivities was capped by the school’s annual appreciation and awards banquet.

The Jonsson School, named after UTD co-founder J. Erik Jonsson, opened in 1986.

It has since evolved into one of the fastest-growing and most-vigorous engineering and computer science schools in the United States.

And the growth continues. A 200,000-square-foot Engineering Building is being constructed on the site of the Alexander Clark Center.
