Among U.S. universities founded less than 50 years ago, UT Dallas is No. 1 in the “Young University Rankings 2017” report from Times Higher Education.

UTD ranked 21st in the world, up from No. 24 last year.

Other U.S. universities to make the list were Rush University (33), George Mason University (47), The University of Texas at San Antonio (68) and Florida International University (89).

This year’s list, previously known as the magazine’s “150 Under 50 Rankings,” includes 200 institutions. The rankings use 13 performance indicators to rate research-intensive universities.

UT Dallas, established in 1969, ranked 10th in the world among the magazine’s list of “Top 50 Generation X Universities” — those founded between 1967 and 1985.
