Recruitment and Application Calendar
The McDermott Scholars application has two deadlines this year "Priority" and "Regular." Be sure to read below for these important dates.
August 2009
Online Application link will be available.
Fall 2009
The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program Staff will recruit and visit high schools.
Applicants will fill out the online application and request the required letters of recommendation from their high school counselor.
Applicants must complete the separate application for admission to The University of Texas ar Dallas.
November 1, 2009 - "Priority" Applicant Deadline
For the November 1 deadline, applicants will only need to provide their high school counselor's information in the online Recommendation Provider list. "Priority" Counselor's deadline is also November 1.
Please send a high school transcript to the McDermott Scholars Program office.
By November 15, 2009 - Notification to Semifinalists ("Priority" Applicants only)
The Selection Committee will look at submitted application and the counselor's recommendation to decide who is a Semifinalist. If named a Semifinalist, applicants will need to identify three additional recommenders.
December 7, 2009 - Recommendations Deadline for Semifinalist ("Priority" Applicants only)
The three additional recommendations are due for Semifinalist ("Priority" Applicants only).
January 3, 2010 - Application Due
Students must submit and complete all parts of the online application and all 4 recommendations must be submitted as well.
Send a high school transcript to the McDermott Scholars Program office before 12/18/09. You will also need to apply to UT Dallas.
By January 15, 2010 - Notification to Finalists
If named a finalist, you will be asked to attend Finalists’ Weekend at UT Dallas. Attendance is required if you wish to be considered for the McDermott Scholarship Program. RSVP by January 18, 2010 for Finalists' Weekend .
February 12-14, 2010 - Finalists' Weekend
Attendance is mandatory at Finalists' Weekend for further consideration.
February - April 2010
The McDermott Scholars Program Director begins contacting finalists to make offers to join the McDermott Scholars Program.
Late Spring 2010
Announce the class of scholars that will begin at UTD in fall 2010.
