Visiting SOM Professor Wins Top Paper Honor
May 22, 2008
A research paper by a visiting assistant professor of information systems and operations management will be honored as the year’s top student work at an upcoming information technology conference.
Dr. Xiuli He of the UT Dallas School of Management will accept the 2008 Outstanding Student Paper Award at the Portland International Conference on Management of Engineering and Technology (PICMET). The conference is in July in Cape Town, South Africa.
The award, based on a student’s research toward a graduate degree in engineering and technology management, is based on Dr. He’s work in “Cooperative Advertising and Pricing in a Dynamic Stochastic Supply Chain: Feedback Stackelberg Strategies.”
She was nominated for the award by her adviser, Dr. Suresh Sethi, the Charles and Nancy Davidson Distinguished Professor of Operations Management and director of the Center for Intelligent Supply Networks in the School of Management. Sethi and Dr. Ashutosh Prasad, an associate professor of marketing in the school, co-authored the paper with He. In addition, Sethi was a member of He’s doctoral dissertation committee and now supervises her post-doctoral work and teaching efforts at the University.
At UT Dallas, Dr. He teaches production management, a core class for undergraduate management students.
Dr. He is interested in supply chain management, game theory and optimal control theory. She joined UT Dallas after receiving her doctorate in operations and supply chain management from UT Austin. She worked for two years before that as a financial analyst with Centergate Securities in Shanghai, China.
She received her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Shanghai Tie Dao University and her master’s degree in management science at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
