Inclement Weather & Emergency Closing Procedures

The University of Texas at Dallas is open for normal business operations and scheduled instructional activities unless indicated otherwise on the UT Dallas home page. All employees and students  are expected to exercise individual judgment regarding their ability to travel safely to campus when the campus is open and inclement weather is in the area and are not expected to place travel for work or class attendance above their individual health and safety.

When closing is necessary:
If conditions necessitate closure, UT Dallas will post closure information on the University Web site http://www.utdallas.edu; send an e-mail announcement to all faculty, staff, and students; send a voice mail to employees’ work numbers; provide a recorded telephone message (check message at 972-883-7669); send an announcement via Mobile Campus text messaging system; and inform the following local media:

For morning closures, every effort will be made to have this information posted on University-controlled sites no later than 6 a.m.

The UT Dallas - Callier Center for Communication Disorders and Center for BrainHealth (Dallas Campus) may have a different closure situation than the main campus in Richardson.  Should either need to close, a voice message for UT Dallas Callier will be placed on (214) 905-3030 and for the UT Dallas Center for BrainHealth at (214) 905-3007. Information will also be posted on the UT Dallas home page (http://www.utdallas.edu).

Employees who choose not to report for work when the University is open and inclement weather impairs individual safety may elect to use vacation time or to make up the time within a month of the absence and at a time convenient to both the employee and supervisor.  Those choosing not to report to work should inform their supervisors so that work duties can be managed.

Students who choose not to report for class when the University is open and inclement weather impairs individual safety must make up their absence in the manner prescribed by their instructors, e.g., as in the class syllabus, or as announced for the entire University.
