Send-Off Event to Celebrate Senior Survivors
May 8, 2009
With graduation just around the corner, the University wants to celebrate with its first-ever Senior Send Off, scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the campus Multipurpose Field.
“This is the first year that student fees have been set aside for the explicit purpose of celebrating seniors at the time of graduation,” said Phyllis Blanck, associate dean of students and Student Union director.
Seniors can go to the VIP senior survival tent for a chair massage, caricature artist and photo magnets. Seniors will also be given wrist bands and tickets for prize drawings. Students must bring their student IDs for verification that they are seniors.
Giveaways, exclusively for seniors, include: a Dell Mini, iPods, Guitar Hero, gift cards, UT Dallas gear and much more.
Carnival activities will include a rock climbing wall, obstacle course, carnival games and a dunking booth. A DJ will also be on hand.
Free food will be provided while it lasts: BBQ, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, drinks and ice cream.
“We want to congratulate the Class of 2009 and welcome them to the UT Dallas alumni community,” said Blanck.
The event is open to the entire University campus community, including non-seniors.
