UT Dallas point guard Chelsea Edwards wrapped up the basketball season with a flurry of honors, including her prestigious selection as a finalist for the national Jostens Trophy.

Edwards ends her Comets career as the team’s all-time leader in points, assists and steals. She is pursuing a master’s degree after earning a bachelor’s in business administration in just three years.

Conference honors conferred on Edwards this week included East Division Defensive Player of the Year. She was also named to the ASC All-Conference Team for the first time in her four years as a Comet. She was also named to the ASC All-East Division Team, as well as the East’s Defensive Team.

The Josten’s Trophy award is presented by the Rotary Club of Salem, Va., to the Division III National Player of the Year. The  award recognizes athletic accomplishments, academic achievement and community service. In addition to excelling in UT Dallas' basketball program, Edwards has been active in charity work for the homeless in her hometown of Friendswood, Texas.

The award presentation is scheduled for Thursday, March 18.

The Comets ended the 2009-10 season with a 19-7 overall record. Edwards led the team with average 11.8 points per game.
