CASE awards were announced at the annual district conference, held in Austin in late March. UT Dallas won 11 awards for writing, design, student programming and a development campaign.
The UT Dallas delegation also took home second place for best cheering and school spirit, thanks to the group’s enthusiastic showing at the conference awards assembly.
CASE, an organization for professionals in alumni relations, marketing, communications and development, represents more than 3,300 educational entities in 61 countries worldwide. District IV is made up of about 270 member organizations from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mexico, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Communications efforts also got the nod of approval from judges at the 2010 University of Texas System Seminar’s annual Chancellor’s Excellence Awards competition.
The University won the Outstanding Publications category for “Creating the Future,” a compilation of the most recent counselor’s guidebook, senior viewbook, annual report and donor report. Judges praised the publications as “visually impressive, with consistent design, high impact imagery and compelling, targeted content.” They also praised the covers of the viewbook and annual report for the “unique printing techniques [used] to make bold statements as soon as they hit their constituents’ hands.”
“Our designers have extraordinary artistic talent and a true passion for what they do,” said Lauraine O’Neil, assistant vice president for marketing. “The passion is what elevates their talent to a different level.
“One of our designers is a recent graduate of the University’s arts and technology [ATEC] program and two others are currently graduate students in the ATEC Master of Fine Arts program. They take great pride in representing their University well and it comes across in everything they do.”
The Panel of Presidents entry won, in a tie, the Chancellor’s Excellence Award for Excellence in Special Events. The occasion was a signature event of the University’s 40 years celebration, a yearlong series commemorating UT Dallas’ fourth decade as a public university and a member of the UT System. Judges commented positively on the event’s success and the resulting “enthusiasm elicited from the entire UT Dallas community and its guests.”
Established in 2005, the Chancellor’s Excellence Awards recognize exceptional performance or best practices in key areas of external relations functions. Awards were presented at the UT System seminar in late February.
