Starting this week and continuing through early October, student business and service offices will begin moving from around campus to UT Dallas’ new Student Services Building.

During the switch, select offices will post personnel in both old and new locations in an effort to avoid disrupting or inconveniencing students. Most phones will be operational throughout the moves.

The new building, located immediately south of the Student Union, will hold most of the departments that students need to conduct business with UT Dallas.

“We know the offices housed in the new Student Services Building are high-traffic businesses that our students rely on heavily,” said Matt Grief, assistant vice president for Student Affairs.  “Our goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible for the staffers moving into the facility and for our students who may have questions or who may need to visit offices like the Career or Health centers.”

Offices within Enrollment Management will be closed entirely from Friday, Oct. 1, through Tuesday, Oct. 5.  They include the offices of the Registrar, Financial Aid and Admissions.  Those offices will reopen on Wednesday, Oct. 6, said Curt Eley, vice president for Enrollment Management.

“The majority of functions within our offices still will be available to students electronically via Orion, even though physical office locations will be shut down,” Eley said.

Grief added that during the move, pathways and access to buildings—including the basement of the Multipurpose Building, the basement of the Eugene McDermott Library and the lower level of the Student Union, among other areas, will be intermittently blocked or inaccessible.

“Even though we’ll do our best to ensure that students’ calls are answered, we do ask that visitors refrain from stopping by until the moves are complete,” Grief said.  “Each office within the Student Affairs division will be fully operational the day after their respective moves.”

A dedication and tours of the Student Services Building are planned for Oct. 20.  The new Science Learning Center and the Founders Building renovations also will be highlighted during that event.
