UT Dallas students in the Phi Beta Lambda business leadership organization triumphed many times over in contests held at the group’s annual state conference.

The April 12-13 contests at Stephen F. Austin University tested subject knowledge in 26 business and management categories. UT Dallas students earned 29 awards, including 19 for first place.

“The students simply performed great,” said Dr. Vance Johnson Lewis, chapter adviser and director of the undergraduate program in business administration at the Naveen Jindal School of Management. “They were prepared and invested in their activities and really shined as professionals. I could not have been more proud.”

“It was an absolutely amazing experience that I would recommend to everyone,” PBL chapter president Sehrish Rizvi, a senior majoring in finance, said. “I learned so much and made many great memories with my fellow members.”

The collegiate division of the Future Business Leaders of America, Phi Beta Lambda focuses on preparing students for careers in business and business-related fields. On the college level, more than 11,000 students participate in the organization, which is designed to build leadership and scholarship.

The state competition allowed students to compete in online as well as in person at on-campus events. Those who placed first or second in each category qualified to compete at the annual FBLA-PBL conference, scheduled for June in Anaheim, California.
