The University has set new records in key areas — from enrollment to faculty hiring to research spending — all markers of progress described in the just-released 2013 UT Dallas Annual Report.
“We’re ahead of target in just about every measure of our plan, from growth to quality. It’s a pleasure to have such accomplishments to showcase, but the value of our work here goes far beyond our pride in institutional achievement,” President David E. Daniel said. “What our faculty and students accomplish individually is the most important ingredient to our success and to our value to our community.”
An interactive version of the report is available online. It allows readers to view essential statistics at a glance and read about the year’s most important success stories. Readers also may either download a PDF version of the full report or request a printed copy from the Office of Communications.
Among the highlights:
- The largest number of National Merit Scholars in the University’s history (88) enrolled for the fall semester, which is the second highest percentage of any public university in America.
- Research expenditures continued to expand, totaling $98.9 million in 2013.
- The Edith O’Donnell Arts and Technology Building, which includes a 1,200-seat lecture hall, opened for fall classes.
- Fundraising in the University’s first comprehensive campaign continued to show an increase in alumni participation and record numbers of endowments and giving totals.
