The UT Dallas women's cross country team collected its first American Southwest Conference Championship on Saturday, with runners placing first and second at the league's meet held on the Balcones-Spicewood Cross Country Course hosted by Concordia Texas.

Junior Lindsey Rayborn won the 6-kilometer race in a personal-best time of 22:59. She is the first Comet, male or female, to win the ASC individual title. Freshman Hollee Ratliff finished 1 second behind Rayborn, earning ASC Freshman of the Year honors. Junior Samantha Tschirhart placed eighth with a time of 24:07.

The Comets outdistanced second place McMurry by 28 points. Three-time defending champion UT Tyler placed third. Rayborn and Ratliff were each honored as first team All-ASC. Tschirhart and senior Mallory Bing earned second team honors. Bing finished in 12th place with a time of 24:46. Sara Hartke finished in 18th place at 25:18, while her sister Sam Hartke was 20th at 25:35.

First-year head coach Rayn House was named the ASC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Next up for the Comets is the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Meet, hosted by Berry College in Mount Berry, Ga., on Saturday, Nov. 12.
