Center for BrainHealth Award Honors Pickens
Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert recently presented the UT Dallas Center for BrainHealth's Legacy Award to T. Boone Pickens, recognizing the legendary energy investor's generosity and foresight in his support of the center's brain health research.
The center's third Legacy Award dinner was Oct. 29 at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel in Dallas.

Russell Cleveland, an internationally known collector of classical and acoustic guitars and a driving force behind the Texas Guitar Competition, has taken his passion for music another step by endowing a professorship in guitar studies at UT Dallas. read more
TI Gift Bolsters Semiconductor Research
Semiconductor research at UT Dallas has received a $2 million boost thanks to a gift of nearly $1.15 million from Texas Instruments Inc. that's expected to qualify for more than $850,000 in state matching funds. The gift's timing was motivated in part by the availability of matching funds through the recently enacted Texas Research Incentive Program, or TRIP. read more

TI Foundation Grant Strengthens UTeach
Increasing the supply of qualified math and science teachers in America's secondary schools received a big boost Wednesday when the Texas Instruments Foundation awarded a $450,000 grant to UTeach Dallas.
The award is part of a $3 million commitment from the foundation to address the shortage of quality math and science teachers. read more

Moving UT Dallas Closer to Tier One Goal
On Tuesday, The University of Texas at Dallas received 16 philanthropic gifts, totaling more than $16.8 million - seven of them in amounts of $1 million or more and all greater than $100,000. It was the greatest number of individual seven-figure gifts ever received in one day by UT Dallas. read more

The UT Dallas Callier Center for Communication Disorders has received more than $407,000 from the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas to fund three priority needs programs for 2009-2010. The amount represents a 42 percent increase over the previous year's support. read more
