The UTeach Dallas program prepares undergraduate students majoring in fields like physics, math, chemistry and biology to be secondary science or math teachers. Established at UT Dallas in 2007 with support from the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI), the program allows students to earn secondary teaching certification while simultaneously completing bachelor's degrees. ]]></description>

Since October, when President Emeritus Robert Rutford told alumni that he would match gifts they made to UT Dallas, more than 300 graduates have responded to his 90-day challenge. Dr. Rutford appealed to graduates from his tenure as president, 1982 to 1994. ]]></description>

A first-generation college student, Williamson came to UT Dallas after working for three years as a flight attendant. Although her tenacity would prove to be an asset in the classroom, her limited bank account threatened to keep a degree out of reach. ]]></description>
