New Research Lab To be Dedicated June 5

The UT Dallas community is invited to tour the university’s newest building — the state-of-the-art, architecturally diverse Natural Science and Engineering Research Laboratory — from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5.

The four-story, 192,000 square-foot facility was completed in December 2006, and officials expect to fill the building with as many as 350 faculty, graduate students and post-doctoral researchers.  University of Texas System Chancellor Mark Yudof, UT System Regent Robert A. Estrada and UT Dallas President Dr. David E. Daniel will formally dedicate NSERL in early June.  After the open house and dedication, the building will be limited access.

The Natural Science and Engineering Research Laboratory (NSERL) stands without peer on the UT Dallas campus. The four-story, 192,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility cost $85 million to build and will be used, in part, to help draw scientists from across the world and from all disciplines to the labs. About one-third of the research laboratory’s space is being reserved for that purpose.
