Chemistry – it’s all around us. It’s in the air we breathe, the water we drink, the sunlight we absorb. All sorts of interactions abound. And like the substances that this branch of science introduces, you too can expect to be transformed – from wide-eyed freshmen to professionals with an array of career and research choices. The field beckons.

In the undergraduate program, majors include a BA and BS in chemistry and a BS in biochemistry. An academic advisor is available to assist you every step of the way to ensure you graduate within four years. A graduate-level advisor also is available.
Our graduate degree programs allow for focused study into the areas you want to probe and pursue. The PhD program produces graduates trained in innovation and problem-solving in all areas of chemistry, including materials chemistry and chemistry at the interface with biology.
Our faculty features Ray Baughman, PhD, Robert A. Welch Chair in Chemistry and Director of UT Dallas' Alan G. MacDiarmid NanoTech Institute; and A. Dean Sherry, PhD, Cecil and Ida Green Honors Chair in Chemistry and Director of the Advanced Imaging Research Center, whose work, along with others, exposes our students to ground-breaking research.
Our excellent facilities include laboratories that feature current instrumentation, such as excimer lasers, atomic force and scanning tunneling microscopes and protein synthesizers.
