Outstanding Teacher Awards
The School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics will recognize one outstanding faculty instructor and one outstanding teaching assistant this spring with a reception in the NS&M Dean’s Suite, FN3.120 on Wednesday, April 27 at 3:30 PM. This is a wonderful way to show all members of the UTD community the importance that we place on the work of talented and committed teachers.
As Dean of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, I need your help in identifying those faculty and TA’s that should be recognized in this way. I ask that your students think about the professors (including senior lecturers) and teaching assistants in NS&M who have made the biggest positive impact on their education, and nominate them for the appropriate award. Supporting documentation, e.g. letters from other students, will be welcomed as well. While faculty may wish to nominate colleagues, in such cases evidence of student support for the nomination will be very important.
The School has decided that the award for faculty will be a plaque. For the teaching assistant the award will be a plaque plus $500. The recipients’ names will also be inscribed on a permanent plaque to be displayed in the Dean’s office complex.
Nominating forms can be downloaded below, or they can be obtained from my office or any of the offices of NS&M departments – Biology, Chemistry, Geosciences, Mathematics, Physics, or Science and Math Education. Please return the completed form to my office, either in person or via campus mail to Jillian Zeiger, FN32, by April 1, 2005.
I appreciate your help in this important effort.
