What OEE Does
Workshops
OEE develops hands-on and departmental workshops to help faculty understand assessment techniques, teaching and learning best practices, and instructional technology tools. We offer different workshops during the semester. Look under events to see what we offer. If you don't see what you need, contact us and we can do a consultation, departmental workshops, or campus wide workshop.
Consultations
Dr. Rhonda Blackburn, Dr. Shaun Longstreet and Dr. Christine Salmon are available to provide confidential one-on-one consultations with UT Dallas faculty, instructors and graduate students who are interested in discussing any issue about their teaching. These consultations can take place in conjunction with a videotaping or observation of a class session and/or course evaluations. Likewise, consultations can be conducted on an ad hoc basis. We regularly work with faculty on a variety of topics such as assessment processes or procedures, best practices in teaching and learning as well as questions about instructional technology. While we are all familiar with current research on best practices in higher education, we are committed to working with individual instructors as they develop their own strengths as teachers. We can visit with our clients in their offices and can offer consultations in our offices (HH2.406).
Instructional Design
The focus of the OEE Instructional Design team is to assist with the integration of web-based technology into online, hybrid, and classroom-based courses. Services for faculty and staff include instructional design consultation, technical training, and support.
Seminars
OEE offers seminar series every semester. During the Spring 2008 semester, two series were conducted; Writing Across the Curriculum and Teaching Large Classes. During the Spring 2009 semester, OEE will be developing a new seminar series, which will be revealed later in the summer.
Media Services
Media Services consists of two groups: Classroom Support Services and Video Services. The Classroom Support Services group manages the daily multimedia and audio-visual requirements of UT Dallas' courses across most of the buildings on campus. Some departments service their own classrooms and maintain their own equipment; however, the majority use Media Services either directly or as a second-tier for reference and assistance. The Video Services group is responsible for video production, post-production, and videoconferencing. These responsibilities include recording, editing, and duplcating course lectures, seminars, and special events hosted on-campus. Video Services also handles videoconferences with the Callier Center, UT System, and various UT System components.
