Career Center

Students are encouraged to contact the Career Center early in their academic careers in order to utilize the services available in the development of their long-range planning. The staff assists students with career counseling through evaluation and testing in the areas of skills analysis, interest identification, and values clarification. Computer-assisted career information searches and a Career Resource Library are also available.

The Career Center provides pre-employment preparation assistance through videotaped mock interviews and workshops on rsum writing, interviewing skills, and conducting an effective job search. Representatives of business, government, industry, education, and social agencies recruit UTD students at Career Expos and on-campus interviews. The office maintains daily updated on-line job listings for part-time, on-campus, and full-time positions with public and private employers. The Career Center also manages the Internship/Cooperative Education program.

All students register with the Career Center by completing a Web Registration Form. The student uploads a resume into the system, which can, in turn, be referred to employers. Employers also have access to candidate rsums via web rsum books. For more information, contact the Career Center in McDermott Library 1.312. Internship/Cooperative Education Program

The Internship/Cooperative Education Program(Co-op) places students in work assignments related directly to their fields of study. The experience provides students with an opportunity to apply what they learn in the classroom to practical settings while responding to the immediate needs of employers. In addition, students are able to stay in school and earn money to defray college expenses, clarify academic interests, and target specific job markets.

Co-op may be taken for credit depending on the students degree program requirements. U.T. Dallas has a flexible co-op program and arrangements include the following plans:
