Vision for Graduate Education at UT Dallas

Discovery. Invention. Creativity.

Graduate programs at The University of Texas at Dallas strive to train intellectual leaders, stellar scholars to educate the next generation, and pioneering researchers to solve the most pressing challenges facing today’s world:  the ever-changing global economy, violence, literacy, hunger, poverty, mental illness, cancer, protecting the environment, and understanding what it means to be human.  Graduate programs at UT Dallas teach students to use technology in innovative ways and to think carefully about ethics, to enable them to be become creative leaders in research, business, and industry.

The Office of Graduate Education collaborates with students and encourages them to immerse themselves in their education and to challenge themselves to make original, creative contributions.  We support graduate students from the time they are admitted until they complete their degrees.  The Office of Graduate Education directs incoming students to information on financial aid and housing, offers professional development and social events for graduate students, documents that students have earned their degree requirements, supports students in meeting the format requirements for theses and dissertations, and assists in responding to any challenges along the way.

The Office of Graduate Education works to elevate the quality of graduate education across the University.  We promote recruitment of excellent graduate students, collaborate with the faculty to raise the quality of graduate education, support faculty and graduate advisors in dealing with exceptions and challenges, process forms required for degree completion, and work with the Office of the Provost to meet the requirements of the Coordinating Board, the UT System, and SACS (including gathering information for the required 18 Characteristics of Doctoral Programs, milestone agreements, and doctoral program reviews).
