DID YOU KNOW that there are cells in the Big Ben clock tower? Members of Parliament can be imprisoned there for a breach of parliamentary privilege.
Imprisonment, however, is rare: the last recorded case of a member being imprisoned was in 1880.

Director's Message
The Office of International Education (OIE) at The University of Texas at Dallas offers resources for students and faculty for study and international experiences.
The Office of International Education was established
in 2003 and is supported through the Office of the Executive
Vice President and Provost. Located on the 5th floor
of the Jonsson Building in room 5.504, OIE provides
innovative international learning experiences that will
challenge faculty and students to explore, expand, and
develop global knowledge and understanding of rich cultures
and diversity. The Office seeks to be a resource on
campus to foster international learning opportunities
to educate and prepare individuals for skills necessary
to function in a global environment.
OIE offers
advising and support services for students ranging
from how to select a study abroad program, academic
planning, registration, earning and transferring foreign
credits, financial and travel planning, cultural adjustments,
and assistance with returning from abroad.
A variety of programs are being developed
to attend to the diverse needs of students and faculty.
Programs will vary in length, level, academic content,
teaching style, language requirements, costs, living
arrangements, and demands on participants. Study abroad
can be exciting, yet challenging and confusing. OIE
offers support and assistance to both faculty and
students to make this process less daunting and more
efficient.
The Office of International Education collaborates with many of the administrative and academic departments on campus including the Office of the Registrar and Financial Aid. Safety, security and insurance issues are always a concern and OIE follows guidelines established by the university. Although safety and security can not be guaranteed, OIE seeks to educate participants regarding up to date emergency procedures, U.S. State Department information and travel precautions, and related health risks which merit attention. OIE offers information sessions, pre-departure workshops and remains in close contact with participants during their programs.
OIE seeks to encourage and expand international opportunities both on campus and abroad. OIE seeks to assist students in any major to consider international study experiences that can be applied toward degree requirements and that contribute to overall personal growth.
