Deadlines, Institutional Protocol, and Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility for studying abroad and exchange programs is as follows:
1. A student must have a G.P.A of no less than 2.0
2. A student with a GPA of less than 2.5 may not be eligible for some affiliate or exchange programs
3. A student must have earned a minimum of 30 semester credit hours at UTD
4. Study abroad is limited to two (2) semester
5. Freshman and students who plan to graduate are not eligible to apply.
International protocol for international education:
1. Submit documentation of the program.
2. Meet with an OIE advisor to retrieve, complete, and turn in the following:
+ Application Form
The Associate Dean in each school will have the responsibility for determining how general courses and curriculum courses will be applied to the UTD degree plan.
+ Student/Team/Group Travel Authorization - Exhibit B14
3. Provide copy of
+ Proof of international insurance
In addition to your insurance, UTD will provide you a free International Emergency Insurance, e.g. SOS card. Click http://www.internationalsos.com/en/index.htm for more details.
+ Passport, and + Airline ticket
4. Attend the mandatory, pre-departure orientation

Upon Arrival at the Host Country
- Contact the Office of International Education at U.T. Dallas with your foreign contact information - Provide OIE with proof of enrollment/registration at the host institution.
Pre-Arrangement for Return to U.T. Dallas
Office of International Education, 800 West Campbell Rd , JO52, Richardson, TX, 75080, USA.
This is imperative as it is required even if you are not receiving academic credit. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary actions.
In addition to having your transcript sent to the Office of International Education, it is always a good idea to also have one sent to your permanent address.
