Eligibility Requirements, Institutional Protocol & Forms, Deadlines.


Eligibility Requirements:


  1. 1.- A student must have a minimum 2.0 GPA for general study abroad. UTD works through "third party" programs for general study abroad. Online resources for programs are: www.studyabroad.com, www.studyabroaddirectory.com and www.goabroad.com.

  2. 2.- A student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA for UTD Exchange Mobility Programs. UTD offers exchange mobility at certain universities in certain countries. The process for exchange may be lengthy and it is suggested that students apply for exchange mobility at least six (6) months prior to the semester you would like to do exchange.

  3. 3.- Undergraduate students must have a minimum 30 UTD credit hours for study abroad/exchange mobility.

  4. 4.- Graduate students must have a minimum 9 credit hours for study abroad/exchange mobility.

  5. 5.- Freshman students are allowed to participate in UTD Faculty Led/Customized programs.

  6. 6.- Students who are within the 24/30 rule who plan to graduate must obtain a 24/30 waiver to be eligible for study abroad.

  7. 7.- Study abroad is limited to two (2) semesters.
  8. 8.- Students must register in International SOS at least three weeks before departure: International SOS registration instructions.
  9. 9.- Students need to comply with institutional deadlines. If there is a missing piece of the protocol such as air itinerary or international SOS registration, student must complete successfully the protocol at least three weeks before departure.
  10. 10.- Students pursuing non-credit travel are required to submit all protocol items along with the B14-F (prepared by student's administrative department) a minimum of three (3) weeks prior to departure.
  11. 11.- Guests such as alumni, spouses, and partners participating in international education programs are subject to the satisfaction of the OIE protocol. Guests and/or administrators should contact OIE for protocol package.
