EAS Technology Shared Services

The EAS Technology Shared Services department provides the following production operations and technology services to the UT Dallas campus staff, faculty, applicants, and students:

  • PeopleSoft/Galaxy Security (Access) Control
    • PeopleSoft Security (Access) Control supports all the PeopleSoft environments (Galaxy Portal, Gemini Financials, eProcurement-Sciquest, Gemini HR, Orion Student Information Systems, and Business Intelligence Reporting Tools), as well as integrating the security between PeopleSoft modules and other web environments and applications.

      Access Requests

      New User Access

      General access to Galaxy is automatically assigned to a new user when they receive a UT Dallas NetID. During the user’s first login, access is assigned to appropriate Gemini and/or Orion modules, depending on what type of user they are: Employee, Applicant, Faculty, and Student.

      PeopleSoft Access Request

      Some users require special access to perform their jobs. In order to obtain this specialized access, follow the steps below.

      For PeopleSoft approvals please refer to the PeopleSoft Trusted Approvers document for your area and have the Trusted Approver submit an EAS Technology Shared Services (EAST JIRA) ticket. When submitting the EAST JIRA ticket, please select the PeopleSoft Security (Access) Issue Type.

      For OBIEE approvals please refer to the OBIEE Approvers document and have the Trusted Approver submit an EAS Technology Shared Services (EAST JIRA) ticket. When submitting the EAST JIRA ticket, please select the PeopleSoft Security (Access) Issue Type for the Dashboards & Reports or Technical Answer Roles the user will need.

      • Trusted Approvers should submit the EAST JIRA for any access requests. If the request is submitted by anyone besides the Trusted Approver, the request will take longer to seek the needed approvals.

      When creating a new EAST JIRA ticket, please choose the:

      • PeopleSoft Security (Access) Issue Type
      • Issue Sub-Type to explain the type of work requested
      • Component/s and Environment/s that the access will need to be implemented in
      • One of the following Desired Completion Priorities
      Desired Completion Priority Levels
      1 – Within 1-4 business hours
      2 – Within 8 business hours
      3 – Within 2-3 business days
      4 – Within 1 business week
      5 – Within 2-4 business weeks
      6 – Within 1-3 months
      7 – Within 3-6 months
      • Your Requested Due Date matching the chosen desired completion priority
        • For example, if the request is created on 10/27/15 at 8 am with a desired completion priority of ‘2-Within 8 business hours’, requested due date should be selected as 10/28/15

      If the request needs immediate attention, please contact one of the PS Access team members after submitting the JIRA.

      If we are unable to meet your Requested Due Date, the PS Access team will communicate an Estimated Delivery Date on the EAST JIRA and/or email/phone based on existing workload, priorities, and available resources as early as possible. If the request needs to be escalated, please contact the PeopleSoft Security Team Lead or EAS Technology Shared Services Manager.

      Note: All Cost Center (CC) Security requests need to be submitted under ‘Cost Center Security’ JIRA Project.

  • OnBase Security (Access) Control
  • PeopleSoft Galaxy/Portal Access Development
  • PeopleSoft Database Administration
    • This team supports the Database Administration activities in the following PeopleSoft Database environments (Galaxy Portal, Gemini Financials, Gemini HR, and Orion Student Information Systems). Database Administration activities may include but are not limited to the following: migration requests, performance improvements, database modifications, vendor patches, etc.

      To submit this type of request, please refer to the PeopleSoft Trusted Approvers document for your area and have the Trusted Approver submit an EAS Technology Shared Services (EAST JIRA) ticket. When submitting the EAST JIRA ticket, please select the PeopleSoft DBA Issue Type.

      • Trusted Approvers should submit the EAST JIRA for any PeopleSoft Database Administration activities. If the request is submitted by anyone besides the Trusted Approver, the request will take longer to seek the needed approvals.

      When creating a new EAST JIRA ticket, please choose the:

      • PeopleSoft DBA Issue Type
      • Issue Sub-Type to explain the type of work requested
      • Component/s and Environment/s that the access will need to be implemented in

  • PeopleSoft Galaxy Messages
  • PeopleSoft Integration Broker
    • This team supports the integration activities between these PeopleSoft environments (Galaxy Portal, Gemini Financials, eProcurement-Sciquest, Gemini HR, and Orion Student Information Systems). Integration activities may include but are not limited to the following: configuring nodes and service operations to transfer data between PS applications, configuring security between all nodes, access issues, monitoring messages, related change management procedures, etc.

      To submit this type of request, please refer to the PeopleSoft Trusted Approvers document for your area and have the Trusted Approver submit an EAS Technology Shared Services (EAST JIRA) ticket. When submitting the EAST JIRA ticket, please select the Integration Broker Issue Type.

  • PeopleSoft Architecture/Mobile/AD/LDAP/SSO
    • This team supports the PeopleSoft Security Architecture activities for all the PeopleSoft environments (Galaxy Portal, Gemini Financials, eProcurement-Sciquest, Gemini HR, Orion Student Information Systems, and Business Intelligence Reporting Tools). PeopleSoft Security Architecture activities may include but are not limited to the following: configuring Grey Heller ERP firewall for two-factor authentication, Grey Heller mobile apps and monitoring login activities, automation for user profile maintenance, AD/LDAP/SSO (single-sign on) integration between internal and external applications, etc.

      To submit this type of request, please refer to the PeopleSoft Trusted Approvers document for your area and have the Trusted Approver submit an EAS Technology Shared Services (EAST JIRA) ticket. When submitting the EAST JIRA ticket, please select the Architecture/Firewall/Mobile/AD-LDAP-SSO Issue Type.

      • Trusted Approvers should submit the EAST JIRA for PeopleSoft Security Architecture activities. If the request is submitted by anyone besides the Trusted Approver, the request will take longer to seek the needed approvals.

  • Production Control Batch Scheduling (Control M)
    • This team supports the workload automation or batch scheduling needs for Enterprise Applications such as PeopleSoft, OBIEE/OBIA, and OnBase. Control-M Batch Scheduling enterprise software facilitates automation of various business functions, enterprise level reporting, and setting dependencies across application processes while reducing failure rates, improving SLAs (service level agreements), and accelerating application deployment. Control-M can schedule workloads on a daily, weekly, or monthly interval and provides one location for maintaining controls, producing reports, and can trigger events sending notification alerts based on success or failure of integrated processes.

      To submit this type of request, please refer to the Application Trusted Approvers document for your area and have the Trusted Approver submit an EAS Technology Shared Services (EAST JIRA) ticket. When submitting the EAST JIRA ticket, please select the Control-M Batch Scheduling Issue Type.

      • Trusted Approvers should submit the EAST JIRA for Control-M Batch Scheduling activities. If the request is submitted by anyone besides the Trusted Approver, the request will take longer to seek the needed approvals.

      When creating a new EAST JIRA ticket, please attach a completed version of the following document to you EAST request – Control-M Job Template.

      The following fields should be completed on the new EAST request as well:

      • Control-M Batch Scheduling Issue Type
      • Issue Sub-Type to explain the type of work requested for the following available options:
        • Create Job
        • Modify Job/Schedule
        • Setup/Configuration
        • Research/Report
      • Component/s and Environment/s that the access will need to be implemented in
      • One of the following Desired Completion Priorities
        • Desired Completion Priority Levels
        • 1 – Within 1-4 business hours
        • 2 – Within 8 business hours
        • 3 – Within 2-3 business days
        • 4 – Within 1 business week
        • 5 – Within 2-4 business weeks
        • 6 – Within 1-3 months
        • 7 – Within 3-6 months
      • Your Requested Due Date matching the chosen desired completion priority
