OIT is excited to announce the migration and roll out from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016 beginning the first week of February. Since the roll out of individual and group mailboxes occurs in batches, OIT will send notifications via email two weeks prior to each batch.
We anticipate completing the migration of all mailboxes by the end of March. There should be minimal disruption to your account and you may not notice the change.
On the morning of your migration you will receive an email with a new PIN for your voicemail and instructions to change your PIN.
If you leave your client open overnight, you may also get a message stating “a change has occurred and you need to restart Outlook.”
Once you have restarted Outlook and reset your PIN, you should be able to continue your business as usual.
If you encounter issues after your migration, please contact the Help Desk at ext. 2911 for assistance.
There are several key benefits resulting from this migration:
- First and foremost, the migration includes a complete hardware refresh that will provide significantly better stability and performance than before.
- The default mailbox quota is increasing from 10GB to 50GB giving you 5X the storage space.
- Exchange 2016 is the most recent release of Exchange enabling the latest features and capabilities.
