Document Integration of Office Suite Applications and the World Wide Web
Al Napier
, Rice University, Houston, TX
Sponsored by Course Technology, Cambndge, MA
In many educational and business situations, it is useful to include information from one document in another document. A key advantage of using a suite of software applications is document integration. Suites of software provided by Microsoft, Lotus, and Corel provide alternatives for integrating word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and database management documents. The World Wide Web continues to expand and have greater impact on organizations and individuals. Today it is common for individuals to access the World Wide Web for business as well as personal reasons. In many situations, someone may need to incorporate information from the World Wide Web into other documents created using various software applications. In this session, some methods for integrating word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and database documents are covered. Object linking and embedding techniques are illustrated. Procedures for including information from the World Wide Web are presented. The Microsoft Office software suite and Netscape Navigator are used in the presentation to illustrate document integration and the inclusion of World Wide Web information.
