BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION FOR RALPH DUFFY Ralph Duffy holds a B. A. from the University of Michigan and an M.S. from the Pennsylvania State University. He has worked as a statistical consultant and programmer / analyst for Pennsylvania State University, the Indiana University School of Medicine, and Purdue University. He is currently an instructor in the Computer Information Systems Department of North Seattle Community College. He has taught introductory and advanced Visual Basic college classes for one and one half years. Mr. Duffy has completed the Microsoft Corporation training courses in Visual Basic, and has taught many Visual Basic classes to college instructors at meetings and conferences in the state of Washington. Mr. Duffy also is the Director of the IBM Technology Transfer Center in Seattle. This Center, in cooperation with Microsoft Corporation, provides training in computer applications for the faculty and staff of colleges throughout the Northwest, including the University of Washington and Seattle University. Mr. Duffy is the author of the following college textbooks: dBASE Ill Plus SmartStart, Excel 4 for Windows SmartStart, Excel 5 for Windows SmartStart, Excel for Windows 95 SmartStart, and Paradox SmartStart. He is the co-author of Understanding Microcomputers, and Paradox for Windows SmartStart. He is the author of Introduction to Programming Using Visual Basic and is currently working on a second Visual Basic programming book.
