Plans for the Development of a Women's Center at UTD

The Carolyn Lipshy Galerstein Women's Center at UT-Dallas

During the fall of 1994, the APW, led by Dr. Karen Prager, carried out preliminary work for our proposal of a women's center on campus. Dr. Prager presented the completed proposal to the President in February 1995. We anticipate that the center will be funded and implemented by summer or fall 1995. Its mission is to foster a more inclusive, safe, and open environment for all women at the University of Texas at Dallas and to promote a broader understanding of gender as a multi-faceted aspect of human existence. Its vision for the future is that The University of Texas at Dallas will be a fully inclusive environment which promotes personal empowerment and social justice for women and men of all races, ethnicities, classes, sexual orientations, religious affiliations, national origins, physical abilities, and ages.
