Getting furniture

There are four ways to get furniture:

  • From Churches. At the beginning of each semester, different churches will arrange for church memebers to donate some furniture to new students. The most active Church is the one that organizes the American Friendship Program. If you go to their meetings and sign up for this program, you will also be asked to fill a form stating your needs of furniture.

  • From the BBS. Sometimes people will sell or even give away their old furniture. Keep a close eye on related messages.

  • From Garage Sales and second-hand furniture stores. You can also look up some flea markets in the Yellow page.

  • From stores. Walmart, Staples, Officemax, Officedepot, etc are places you can go and buy some new furniture. A study chair costs around $20 and a simple desk will cost you at least $30. If you enjoy online shopping, you can check out their websites. Coupons for Staples, Officemax & Officedepot can be found on websites like Dealcatcher.
