Habitat for Humanity at the University of Texas at Dallas

What is Habitat for Humanity?
Habitat for Humanity is an international organization in which volunteers come together to build decent, affordable housing and refurbish old houses for with. Habitat's purpose is to provide home ownership for low-income families who could not afford it otherwise.  This helps destroy the cycle of poverty and further enriches our communities.  However, Habitat is not a giveaway program. In exchange for zero-interest, non-profit mortgages for the new homeowners, Habitat homeowner families are required to contribute 400 hours, called sweat equity, working on their own and other Habitat houses.  We will be working with the Dallas Habitat for Humanity organization to build houses in our area.
