Topic: “And be steadfast in prayer; practise
regular charity; and bow down your heads with those who bow down (in worship).”
[Qur'an 2:43]
Summary: The reason for daily ritual prayers (salaat, namaz), ritual prayer in
other faith traditions, external/internal conditions for ritual prayers, meaning,
significance and merits of namaz, timing of namaz to five special times of the day, supplication after namaz.
20:14 "Verily, I am
Allah. There is no god but I: So serve thou Me (only), and establish regular
prayer for celebrating My praise.”
2:43 And be steadfast in
prayer; practise regular charity; and bow down your
heads with those who bow down (in worship).
9:71 The Believers, men and
women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what
is evil: they observe regular prayers, practise
regular charity, and obey Allah and His Messenger. On them will Allah pour His
mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power, Wise.
14:31 Speak to my servants
who have believed, that they may establish regular prayers, and spend (in
charity) out of the sustenance we have given them, secretly and openly, before
the coming of a Day in which there will be neither mutual bargaining nor
befriending.
2:2-3 …for all the
God-conscious. Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend
out of what We have provided for them;
2:110 And be steadfast in
prayer and regular in charity: And whatever good ye send forth for your souls
before you, ye shall find it with Allah. for Allah sees Well all that ye do.
30:31 Turn ye back in
repentance to Him, and fear Him: establish regular prayers, and be not ye among
those who join gods with Allah,-
14:40 [Abraham:] O my Lord!
make me one who establishes regular Prayer, and also (raise such) among my
offspring O our Lord! and accept Thou my Prayer.
14:37 [Abraham:] O our
Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in a valley without cultivation,
by Thy Sacred House; in order, O our Lord, that they may establish regular
Prayer: so fill the hearts of some among men with love towards them, and feed
them with fruits: so that they may give thanks.
19:54-55 And call to mind,
through this divine writ, Ishmael. Behold, he was always true to his promise,
and was an apostle [of God], a prophet. He used to enjoin on his people Prayer
and Charity, and he was most acceptable in the sight of his Lord.
10:87 We inspired Moses and
his brother with this Message: "Provide dwellings for your people in

21:72-73 And We bestowed
upon him Isaac and [Isaacs son] Jacob as an additional gift [67] and caused all
of them to be righteous men, and We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our
Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers,
and to practise regular charity; and they constantly
served Us (and Us only).
19:58-59 [After mentioning
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Aaron, Ishmael and Idris
(Enoch) in previous verses…] These were some of the prophets upon whom God
bestowed His blessings - [prophets] of the seed of Adam and of those whom We
caused to be borne [in the ark] with Noah, and of the seed of Abraham and
Israel and [all of them were] among those whom We had guided and elected; [and]
whenever the messages of the Most Gracious were conveyed unto them, they would
fall down [before Him], prostrating themselves and weeping. But after them
there followed a posterity who missed prayers and followed after lusts soon,
then, will they face Destruction,-
