CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING ACCEPTED TO UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT DALLAS!
We, the Indian Student Association (ISA),
welcome you to UTD and are delighted to have you here with us . The euphoric feeling of having gotten an opportunity of coming to learn and live in an environment of academic excellence, the excitement of entering a new world and meeting new people, which will accompany you to Dallas will also bring with it, a feeling of apprehension and awe. Above all these, the feeling of homesickness and longing for all those loved ones whom you left behind in India will be upmost on your mind. We wish to obliviate such fears and make your initial stay and transition to this new environment and culture as smooth as possible.
It should not take you long to adjust to the life here. There are more than 250 graduate students and undergraduate students from India staying on campus (which, most probably, is where you'll be staying too) in diverse fields of Science, Management and Engineering. There is a large Indian community in Dallas city, and many Indian restaurants, stores etc. You will be sure to find yourself in familiar surroundings.
The ISA helps you get over the strain of studies and gives you an scope to relax and enjoy in the company of fellow students. We arrange get-togethers, cultural programs, picnics and other recreational activities. If you are talented in any of the performing arts, come prepared and equipped. You will have ample scope to exhibit your talent in Indian as well as International Student communities. You can find about this on our ISA Home Page .

Lost / Delayed Luggage :
Rarely, it may happen that your bags don't reach Dallas with you. DON'T PANIC. You will get them in a few days. The airlines will deliver them to your apt. But for this to happen, you will have to talk to the airline officials at the airport. You will be asked to fill a form; do so. You will have to fill in an address on the form - this address will be the place where they will deliver your bags. If you know the exact address where you are going to staying, give that one. If you will be given temporary accomodation after reaching UTD (which would be true for most of you), this is the address that you give
