THE PCAT

The PCAT, short for Pharmacy college
admission test is an important step in the
application process for any pre-pharm
student.
The exam consists of multiple-choice
questions that are used to test and
evaluate the academic skills and basic
science understanding of students who plan on applying to pharmacy school.
The PCAT is offered three times a year, usually in January, June, and
October at selected colleges and universities around the country.

Applications for the PCAT must be received by HarcourtAssessment, Inc.
 no later than six ( ten for paper applications) weeks prior tothe scheduled test
date. There is a $105 online, or $140 paper application (money order only) fee
to take the exam. If required by the test-taker, there is a special testing
location fee of $189 for domestic sites. Applicants may apply online between
the Standard Application Deadline and the Late Application Deadline (two
weeks before the test date); however, this requires a late $49 late fee in
 addition to the $105 online application fee.Late application is possible only
 if completedonline. Additional Score Reports and official Transcript
 Fee are $20 each.

Writing
Time: 30 minutes
Format: 1 prompt

Verbal Ability
Time: 30 minutes
Format: 48 questions
Topics Tested: Analogies, Sentence Completions

Biology
Time: 30 minutes
Format: 48 questions
Topics Tested: General Biology, Microbiology,
Anatomy & Physiology

Chemistry
Time: 30 minutes
Format: 48 questions
Topics Tested: General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry

Writing
Time: 30 minutes
Format: 1 prompt

Reading Comprehension
Time: 50 minutes
Format: 48 questions
Topics Tested: Ability to read quickly,
Comprehend information, Retreive data

Quantitative Ability
Time: 40 minutes
Format: 48 questions
Topics Tested: Basic Math, Algebra,
Probability & Statistics, Precalculus, Calculus
