Tuesday, March 23, 2004 8PM - Meeting
We will be holding a meeting on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at 8PM at the Patio next to the PUB in the Student Union. Topics of discussion include the planned showing of BUSTED: The Citizen's Guide to Surviving Police Encounters and other future events. If the weather is not nice, we will move the meeting into the Comet Cafe. The meeting is open to everyone, come with ideas.
UTD Professor Wins Grant To Examine Criminal Policies on Marijuana
According to http://www.utdallas.edu/utdgeneral/news/tracy_MPPgrant.html,"RICHARDSON, Texas (Jan. 12, 2004) - Dr. Paul E. Tracy, a professor of political economy and criminology at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), has received a $50,000 grant from the Washington, D.C.–based Marijuana Policy Project to provide an economic and policy analysis of the costs and benefits of alternative marijuana policies. "

Previous Events and Activities
- Monday, November 10, 2003 - A representative of SSDP gave a speech on the War On Drugs at the David Rovics concert sponsored by The Student Labor Coalition
- Friday, October 24, 2003 - SSDP showed "Grass", a documentary by Ronn Mann and narrated by Woody Harrelson on the history of Marijuana Prohibition in the United States.
- Saturday, September 20, 2003 - SSDP, with the cooperation of DPFT and SSDP at UT Arlington, held a demonstration at The Science Place in Fair Park in response to the travelling exhibit by the Drug Enforcement Administration entitled Target America: Terrorists, Traffickers and You.
- Thursday, September 18, 2003 - SSDP hosted former DEA agent and acclaimed author Celerino "Cele" Castillo, III in two speaking engagements on campus. First, Cele was interviewed, live on RadioUTD by SSDP members Rob Garcia and Craig Johnson. Later, Cele gave a speech and slide show presentation on his experiences fighting the war on drugs.
