Accreditation

University Accreditation

UTD is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS COC). This accreditation recognizes that the university meets the specified criteria most often associated with effective universities that exhibit a high degree of institutional effectiveness and integrity. UTD's accreditation was most recently reaffirmed in December 2008, signaling its fundamental soundness in the areas of faculty qualifications, curriculum, student services, libraries, and financial stability. Eligibility for federal support of student financial aid and other programs depends in part on accreditation.

The reaffirmation process in an exhaustive one--requiring literally thousands of hours of intensive work across multiple stakeholder groups to prepare a Compliance Certification for each of the Principles of Accreditation along with supporting documentation and a Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) proposal. In short, the reaffirmation process requires that an institution examine every aspect of its operations. UTD's Compliance Certification Reports are located here.

Professional Accreditation

The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
ABET is the professional organization that accredits undergraduate engineering programs. UTD has four engineering and computer science undergraduate programs that are ABET accredited: electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering, software engineering, and computer science.

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB)
Since 2002, the board of directors of AACSB has granted full accreditation of all degree program offered by UTD's School of Management (SOM).

Project Management Institute (PMI) Global Accreditation Center
The project management certificate program in UTD's School of Management is one of the few such programs in the world to receive PMI accreditation.

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
Two programs in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences (BBS), the doctorate in audiology (Au.D.) and the M.S. in communication disorders are accredited by ASHA.

The American Chemical Society (ACS)
The ACS Committee on Professional Training evaluates undergraduate chemistry programs with the objective of improving the standards and quality of chemistry education in America. In 2001, the UTS undergraduate (B.S.) chemistry program was authorized by ACS to certify its graduates.

The National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA)
The Master of Public Affairs in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences (EPPS) received accreditation from NASPAA in 2004.
