Inaugural GEMS Lecture: "Science Education for the 21st Century--Using the Insights of Science to Teach/Learn Science"
On October 19, 2009, Dr. Carl Wieman visited UT Dallas to discuss the failures of traditional educational practices--even as used by “very good” teachers--the successes of some new practices and technology that characterize a more effective teaching approach, and how the results achieved are highly consistent with findings from cognitive science. If you missed this standing room only event, you can view Dr. Wieman's PowerPoint presentation here. An overview of Dr. Wieman's talk in interview form is also available here.
