Parents and Families

Greetings from President David E. Daniel

Welcome, parents and families. We created the Parents and Families page to deepen our engagement with the people who know our students best. We hope to provide information for parents that will help you guide your young adult's journey through higher education.

Families of new students surely are well aware of the qualities that make UT Dallas an outstanding educational choice. These web pages are meant to be a source of relevant information pertaining to those just embarking on college careers here.

In learning about the University, consider this:

  • UT Dallas has among the most accomplished teachers and scholars you'll find at any American university, educated at the finest institutions in this country and the world. Not only do our professors and researchers bring a level of scholarship that's competitive with the best universities, but their dedication to students is unsurpassed.
  • Academic offerings within UT Dallas' seven schools are getting richer in scale and content with each year. We've added several dozen new degree programs in the last few years, which makes an education here even more of a value.
  • Because we're a small institution, if students encounter a problem, help is not far away. The level of engagement among our faculty, staff and students is born out of our approachable size. There's no shortage of campus services and programs available to assist students and parents.
  • Our push to become a Tier One institution – a major nationally competitive research university – is driving advances and invention within our science and engineering programs of study.

Becoming a Tier One school is a major enterprise that drives innovation and prosperity, not only on campus but in our community as well. A Tier One university attracts the best and brightest students, the most creative faculty, and puts out extraordinarily talented graduates and research discoveries. So it's no wonder UT Dallas has its sights set on achieving the designation: Our drive is a component of the new energy that's fueling this University's growth.

In addition to the mobilization of our Tier One efforts, the last five years have seen the arrival of thousands of freshmen and transfer students, many new faculty, new buildings and campus improvements, making it an exhilarating time to be at UT Dallas. The coming years at this University are as bright as they can be for any college, as we're becoming one of the best centers for learning anywhere. We hope you join us at this exciting juncture as we work with students and the entire UT Dallas community to build the future.
