Parking Permits Rules & Regulations
SECTION I
PERMITS
A. All faculty, staff, and students parking on the UT Dallas campus or on UT Dallas-owned property are required to purchase a valid UT Dallas parking permit. See Section X for visitor parking instructions.
B. Parking permits are not transferable between individuals. Parking permits can be transferred between vehicles driven by the parking permit owner. By obtaining a parking permit, the owner agrees to abide by the rules and regulations of UT Dallas.
C. Parking permits allow parking on the permit designated color or a lower parking level.
D. Purchase of a permit does not guarantee parking on campus at a specific location or parking level. A parking permit signifies that an individual has been granted the privilege of parking a motor vehicle on university property.
E. Purchase of a parking permit does not guarantee a parking space located near the building where the parking permit owner works or attends class.
SECTION II
ORDERING PERMITS ONLINE
A. To purchase a parking permit online, the purchaser must be a registered student or faculty/staff member.
B. Parking citation balances must be resolved before a permit can be purchased.
C. Parking permits may be purchased online at www.utdallas.edu/myparking.
D. Permits purchased through the My Parking website will be mailed to the mailing address provided at the time of purchase.
E. In order to avoid citation, a copy of the online purchase receipt must be displayed on the vehicle dashboard while waiting for the permit to be delivered. The receipt is a temporary permit that expires 30 calendar days after the date of purchase.
F. Parking permits purchased online are delivered via USPS in approximately 5 to 7 business days.
SECTION III
DISPLAYING OF PERMITS
A. Vehicles parked on the UTD campus or UTD property must display at all times a valid UTD parking permit for the parking lot section where the vehicle is parked.
B. Permits must be properly affixed by removing the protective plastic on the face of the permit. The proper placement of the permit is on the windshield, on the lower left corner of the drivers side.
C. Parking permits are repositionable DrySeal Decals, which can be removed and replaced without loss of adhesion.
SECTION IV
ONLINE PURCHASES NOT RECEIVED
A. Online purchases not received must be reported to Parking and Transportation Services no later than 30 calendar days from the date of purchase to qualify for a replacement. Failure to report permits not received within the allotted time will result in a replacement fee equal to the price of the permit.
B. Parking and Transportation Services will notify the permit purchaser via UT Dallas email of a permit returned to the department due to an undeliverable address. Returned permits will not be mailed again. Returned permits must be claimed in person at the Parking and Transportation Services Office (located within the Bursar's Office).
C. Unclaimed, returned permits will be destroyed within 30 calendar days from the date of notification as indicated in Part B above. A replacement permit will be available at the current permit price.
SECTION V
LOST /STOLEN PERMITS
A. Lost/stolen permits may be repurchased at the current price of the permit. Requests to purchase a replacement for a lost/stolen permit will only be granted in person.
B. Lost/stolen permits must be reported to Parking and Transportation Services by the end of the next business day.
C. The permit owner is responsible for any citation issued to unreported lost/stolen permits.
SECTION VI
DISPLAYING LOST, STOLEN, VOIDED, SUSPENDED PERMIT
A. Individuals responsible for a vehicle displaying a lost, stolen, voided or suspended permit are subject to disciplinary actions as permitted by the Student Code and Staff Disciplinary Policies.
B. Students and faculty/staff notified that their campus parking or driving privileges have been revoked must return their parking permit to Parking and Transportation Services within one business day of notification. Failure to comply with this regulation may result in escalation to the appropriate department head.
C. Individuals with suspended driving and parking privileges are not eligible to purchase parking permits until the suspension is lifted.
SECTION VII
REFUNDS
Students
A. Student parking permits will be refunded in the event the student withdraws his or her enrollment for the semester.
B. Prorated refunds are available only through Census Day of the semester in which the permit is returned. Refunds will be applied to any outstanding balances before issuing a cash or credit refund.
C. Students must provide documentation of their change in status in order to be eligible for a refund (e.g. graduation, complete withdrawal, etc.).
Faculty and Staff
A. Parking permits are only refunded in the event that the faculty/staff is no longer employed by or associated with UT Dallas.
B. Refunds must be requested in person at Parking and Transportation Services. Refunds are based on a prorated scale.
C. The refunded parking permit must be surrendered at the time that the refund is requested.
SECTION VIII
HANDICAP PARKING PERMITS
A. Students, faculty or staff that have a state handicap placard and/or plates must register with Parking and Transportation Services to receive a UT Dallas handicap parking permit. A UT Dallas handicap parking permit is necessary to park in handicap designated spaces on UT Dallas property.
B. Students, faculty or staff who use either the long-term (blue) or temporary (red) handicapped hangtag/ placard are required to present a copy of TxDOT Form D12-214 (as filed with the County Tax Assessor-Collector) to the Parking and Transportation Services Office when purchasing a UTD handicap parking permit. If students, faculty or staff have Texas special license plates (e.g. Disabled Veterans, Purple Heart, etc.), then Tax Office receipts may be used for verification.
SECTION IX
HOUSING PARKING PERMITS
Residential Parking
A. A valid UTD resident parking permit must be displayed on any vehicle (including motorcycles) parked at the residential facilities. For information on housing parking permits for motorcycles, see Section XI.
B. Visitor permits will not be issued to residents.
C. Permits may be purchased online at www.utdallas.edu/myparking. Permits will be mailed to the address selected online.
D. Resident parking permits are $36. Replacement permits are also $36.
E. Resident parking permits are only valid for parking at the university residential facilities. To park on campus, student residents must also purchase a campus permit in addition to the residential permit.
F. Parking regulations are enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at the residential facilities.
Residential Family and Visitors
A. Family and visitors of student residents must obtain a residential visitor permit to park at the residential facility.
B. Residential visitor permits may be obtained from a residential management leasing office. The Visitor Center and University Bookstore does not issue permits for residential parking.
C. The resident must accompany the visitor in order to obtain a visitor pass.
D. Visitor permits may be obtained during normal office hours. After office hours visitor permit requests must be submitted in advance to a residential management leasing office.
E. Students, faculty and staff members of UTD are not exempt from the residential parking rules and regulations outlined above.
SECTION X
CAMPUS VISITOR PARKING PERMITS
A. Visitors must obtain a visitor parking permit in order to park on UT Dallas property. Visitors may obtain a one-day parking pass at the Visitor Center and University Bookstore or at the Police Department during normal business hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.).
B. Students, faculty, and staff are not permitted to request parking permits in visitor parking areas.
SECTION XI
MOTORCYCLE & OPEN AIR VEHICLE PARKING PERMITS
Drivers who purchase a standard permit may receive one motorcycle /open-air permit at no charge for their additional vehicle. Proof of ownership of both vehicles is required. Those with residential permits must pay for an additional permit for their motorcycle/open-air vehicle.
A. Plastic stickers suitable for outdoor exposure are available for motorcycle and open air vehicles (not enclosed and lockable) are available at the Parking and Transportation Office. It is most efficient to request and pay for these permits in person at the Bursar’s Office (SSB2.300).
B. Motorcycle/Open-air vehicle permits are available at the same cost as those intended for use in an enclosed vehicle.
C. Motorcycle permits must be displayed on the upper right front fork of the motorcycle. Open-air vehicle permits must be placed on the back of the center rearview mirror..
SECTION XII
RECIPROCITY OF PARKING PERMIT
A. A reciprocal GREEN permit is issued to students, faculty, or staff members who have purchased a current parking permit with UT Arlington or UT Southwestern Medical Center. This permit allows for parking at UT Dallas in Green or E-Parking areas.
B. A permit holder from a university for which UT Dallas has a reciprocity parking agreement must present a receipt of the permit purchase to the UT Dallas Parking and Transportation Services Office in order to receive a reciprocal Green permit.
