
Eleven UT Dallas police officers successfully completed their certification requirements for Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT). Rapid Response training allows officers to develop tactical skills for handling critical incidents of a criminal nature including crisis negotiation, active shooter, terrorist response, among others. ALERRT provides a national curriculum to facilitate response standardization and enhance agency and interagency response tactics.
Lieutenant Timothy A. Dorsey was sworn-in and began work with the UT Dallas Police Department. Lt. Dorsey has a long career in law enforcement having previous served as a sergeant with the Allen and Murphy Police Departments. Welcome!
Representatives from the UT Dallas Police Department attended the Annual Conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) in San Diego, California. IACP offers high level and relevant training to law enforcement professionals.
UT System Police personnel classified as noncommissioned Guards and Senior Guards have been redesignated as UT System Police Public Safety Officers (PSO) and Senior Public Safety Officers (SPSO). This title change more accurately reflects the job and duties of these personnel.
Officer Bobby Hudson began work with the UT Dallas Police Department. Ofc. Hudson previously served with the UT Tyler Police Department. Welcome!

On October 7, 2008, for the first time, the UT Dallas community will celebrate National Night Out Against Crime on the UT Dallas campus. National Night Out will be celebrated throughout Texas on this same day. This year is the 25th Anniversary of National Night Out.
National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3) Strengthen community spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know communities are organized and fighting back.
The UT Dallas event will occur on October 7, 2008, from 6 PM-8 PM in the Phase 8 Clubhouse parking area of The University Village Apartments. There will be a Dunk-a-Cop booth, hotdogs and refreshments, Project ID Engravers for valuables, music and much more. Prizes will be given away to participants.
UT Dallas National Night Out is sponsored by the Crime Prevention Unit of the UT Dallas Police Department, Office of Residential Life, Office of Student Affairs and The University Village Apartments.

UT Dallas Police Explorers Post #559 competed and won awards at the National Law Enforcement Exploring Competition held at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. Over 300 Explorer Posts from across the country participated.

The UT Dallas Police will observe National Police Week from May 11, 2008 through May 17, 2008. Additionally, National Peace Officer Memorial Day will be observed on May 15, 2008.

UT Dallas Police Explorer Post #559 competed in the State Explorer Competition sponsored by the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor Association. The Post #559 Team of: Explorers Jenny Chadick, Kevin Grubbs, Robert Haynes, Grant Mock and Advisors Cpl. Karl Zuber and Lt. Chris Dickson placed 2nd in Misdemeanor Traffic Stops and 3rd in Crime Scene Search.
Lt. Steve Finney was elected to a second term as the Second Vice-President of the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor Association for 2008-2009.
UTDPD realigns it's organizational structure in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness. The new structure redesignates the Office of Administrative & Investigative Services as the Office of Administrative & Auxiliary Services and establishes the Office of Investigative & Special Operations.
Congratulations to Det. Sgt. Chris Dickson who has been appointed Interim Lieutenant and Administrator of the Office of Field Operations.
Welcome Corporal Mark Brushwiller. Cpl. Brushwiller comes to the UTDPD from UTSAPD. He is retired from the U.S. Air force and is a certified Police Instructor, Firearms Instructor, Bike Officer and Motor Officer. He formerly served as a Sergeant with UTSAPD.
