Rachel Markowitz

Rachel Markowitz is a pre-law major who plans to work in international law and serves as a Student Ambassador and has served as captain of the Extreme Frisbee team.

Rachel Markowitz“UT Dallas has been just what I wanted—a medium-sized university where I could enjoy real relationships with my professors. Traveling as a McDermott Scholar has provided me reason to feel optimistic about the possibility that world relationships can and will improve. Visits to foreign countries are fascinating but no more so than time in Washington. D.C., where I interned as an Archer Fellow in the U.S. House of Representatives, listening to committee debates on everything from terrorism to diplomacy.

“My only concern about my senior year is that I won’t be able to soak up everything in the short time I have left. There is a good chance that a career as an international lawyer will eventually take me somewhere abroad. I’m looking forward to that but, first, there are things I want to accomplish here. There are still the studies that are important to me. And I also want to spend time with the many friends I’ve made here.

“And, of course, I plan to get much better at Extreme Frisbee.”
