Sign Up for Campus Safety Alerts
I urge all our students, faculty and staff to provide a cell phone number for emergency notification purposes, which may be critical for assuring your personal safety. Please follow the instructions at utdallas.edu/textme.
Why?
Cell phone contact is now among the primary ways we notify our UT Dallas community in the event of an emergency, from weather closures to more serious threats. A text message will be sent to the cell phones of all who are reachable, in addition to other means of notification.
The potential for a campus emergency is unfortunately real. In addition to well-trained police response and solid crisis management, the single most important element in managing an emergency is effective communication with the campus community. When you add your number to our system, you make an individual contribution to improving the overall safety of our campus.
Do it now!
I urge you to join me in updating your personal information to provide your current cell phone number. I’ve done this myself, and it’s quick and easy. Just follow the instructions at utdallas.edu/textme to enter the correct web portal and load or verify your cell phone numbers.
Privacy Concerns?
Your cell phone number is not published on the public directory unless you specifically request it, so privacy is preserved. If there are questions or concerns, please contact the University’s Chief Information Officer, Dr. Jim Gary, gary@utdallas.edu.
Thank you for your cooperation. Individually and together we can make a difference in our readiness to respond in crisis.
Sincerely,
David E. Daniel
President
