Procedures for being granted access to the CRL

 

If you are currently on staff or enrolled with UTD:The Professor or Sponsor of your research project should activate your Comet Card with the Building Access Authorization Form allowing you access to the Main entrance to the NSERL building.

If you are from another campus or a visiting researcher we will see you individually to obtain Building Access.

Parking permits for visiting researchers can be obtained from Visitor information Center located at Main Entrance on Campbell Road or NSERL Security Desk.

Everyone desiring access to the UTD Cleanroom Research Laboratory must fill out completely the Cleanroom Safety Training Enrollment Form (New_CR_User). It can be turned in by email, fax or in person to the CRL AA, Vickie Lincoln; contact information is listed below.

John Goodnight will receive a copy of the form after Vickie has verified your enrollment. He will notify you by email with an appointment date and time to take the Safety Training Walkthrough. Contact him to reschedule if you can't make the emailed appointment time.

Click on the link to the Safety Manual and Operating Procedures and study it carefully. You will need to print the last page, sign it, saying that you agree to follow all rules & procedures, and turn it in to John Goodnight to be attached to your enrollment form. Bring this with you for the Walkthrough.

 a) When you have read the Safety Manual

 b) turned in the agreement to following the rules

 c) completed the Safety Training Walkthrough

 d) attended the Emergency Evacuation procedures

 e) Cleanroom badge snapshot

John will sign the form and pass it on to Vickie Lincoln

 Then...you will be enrolled in the PureSafety Online Safey training course. You will receive email with your log in I.D. and password to start the self paced safety training modules online and take the test at the end of each of the 4 lessons. You must score 70> on your test or retake them until you do.

There is also one short reading assignment.

After successfully completeing the PureSafety Course, contact Vickie Lincoln. She will verify your passing scores and obtain signatures for the Cleanroom Access Forms.

Wallace Martin will then activate your Comet Card to access the CRL and notify you by email that you’re ready to use the lab.

You will automatically be put on an email distribution list to be notified of important CRL announcements, emergencies, notify when tool down for repairs, and updates relating to the CRL. Please do not reply to these emails; doing so sends your reply to a large group of CRL users. Reply to CRL email announcements to Wallace Martin; wmartin@utdallas.edu.
