The Translators Association Prizes.
Dutch/Flemish Translations: The Vondel Translation Prize, £2,000. A prize for translations into English of Dutch and Flemish works of literary merit and general interest. The translation must have been published in the UK or the USA during 1999 or 2000. Next closing date: 31 December 2000.
Japanese Translations: The Sasakawa Prize, £2,000. A prize for translations of full length Japanese works of literary merit and general interest. The original may be from any century. The translation must have been published in the UK in the period 1998-2000 inclusive. Next closing date: 31 December 2000.
Portuguese Translations: The Teixeira-Gomes Prize, £1,000. A triennial prize for translations of works from any period by a Portuguese national. Short stories and single poems are eligible. The translation must have been published in the UK in 1998-2001 inclusive. The prize is also open to unpublished translations of works by Portuguese nationals--further details should be obtained from the Translators Association before submitting unpublished entires. Next closing date: 31 December 2001.
Entries should be submitted by the publisher.
There is no limit on the number of submissions made by a publisher.
For each entry, send three copies of the translation and three copies (which may be photocopies) of the original work to:

The ATA German Literary Translation Prize, awarded in odd-numbered years, for translations from the German into English that have been published in the United States by an American publisher within the two years preceding the prize year, as a single volume or as part of a collection.

The Lewis Galantiere Prize, awarded in even-numbered years for distinguished published literary works translated from any language other than German into English.

Whereabouts Press is a small San Francisco-based literary press that publishes a series of collections of short stories by native writers, designed to convey a sense of place and a feel for its literary landscape. NORLA Grant
For the translation of Norwegian fiction, poetry, and children's books into any language. Translators must apply for grants through their publisher, and grants will be assessed both on the quality of the book and its translation and the publisher's ability to market the translation satisfactorily.
