BORDERLANDS:
Texas Poetry Review
A literary
journal based in Austin, Texas that publishes poetry
along with photographs, reviews and essays. Our
four-color cover features the work of area artists. The
journal's mission is to publish work of merit that shows
an awareness of connection--historical, social, political
and spiritual.
Guidelines:
Poetry: Please submit
outwardly directed poetry that exhibits social,
political, geographical, historical or spiritual
awareness coupled with intelligence, creativity and
artistry. Poems in two languages are acceptable when the
poet has written both versions. You are encouraged to
study an issue of Borderlands before submitting work.
All submissions must be typed. Poetry should be
single-spaced, except for artistic double-spacing. If
poem runs more than 28 lines (including blank lines
between stanzas) please indicate page-break. Italicize or
underline words to be italicized. Bold-faced type will
not be reproduced. Number each page and double-check
source quotations, spelling, usage. Include a cover
letter with your name, address, e-mail address and phone
number. (Please indicate whether or not you will accept a
collect call should we have questions.) Also include a
brief, one paragraph biography and SASE or International
Reply Coupons for response. Poems will not be returned
without sufficient postage. Submit no more than five
poems per issue. No simultaneous submissions, please.
Essay: All essays must be
germane to poetry and are accepted under the provision
that the author be willing to work with the editors on
recommended changes (length, punctuation, etc.).
Submissions should be typed, double-spaced, and include
page numbers. Name, address, phone number (if you will
accept a collect call) and/or e-mail address should
appear on first page and with cover letter (which should
also include a brief bio). Limit essay length to 3,000
words or less. As always, double-check source quotations,
spelling and word usage. Include SASE or International
Reply Coupons for response.
