Library

In collaboration with the Eugene McDermott Library, the Center for Translation Studies has built a special collection of literary translations. Each year, newly published translations from a variety of languages are added to the collection. The collection further comprises reference works for various languages, monographs in Translation Studies, and scholarly journals in the field of translation criticism, theory, and history. The collection is a research resource for translators, students, and scholars of translation.

The library currently owns over 1 million volumes, including over 200,000 electronic books. In addition, the library subscribes to over 30,000 print and electronic journals and to more than 200 commercial databases. As a designated federal and state depository, McDermott Library also owns more than 1 million government documents. In the past three years, the library has continued to expand its electronic services by delivering Interlibrary Loan articles by e-mail, providing online reference assistance, and furnishing laptops for student use.
