As part of its mission, the Center for Translation Studies promotes
and disseminates innovative critical work about the practice and
theory of literary translation. Translation
Review, a joint publication of the Center for Translation
Studies and the American Literary Translators Association, focuses
on the visibility of the translator, the reconstruction of the
translation process, translation as cross-cultural communication,
the anthropological dimensions of translation, the history of
translation, the evaluation of translations, and translation as
a creative act. Annotated
Books Received provides short descriptions of recent works
of literary translation from a wide range of languages.
The publications are especially valuable to students, providing
them with the opportunity to gain experience in editing and producing
academic journals. The Center holds the complete run of both publications,
a valuable archive for scholars and students of translation.
