About the Digital Forensics and Security Center (DFSC)
Dr. E. Douglas
Harris, Executive Director of the Digital Forensics and Emergency Preparedness
Institute, is acting as Director of the Digital Forensics and Security Center (DFSC). The mission of the DFSC Center is to conduct focused
research and training to achieve a better preparedness for emerging cyber

be directed towards developing the best techniques to prevent, detect, and solve cybercrimes.
The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at
the University Of Texas at Dallas (UTD) has among its ranks 20+ faculty members
who have a proven track record in areas related to digital forensics and network
security, and are already well on their way to establishing research programs to
promote the DFSC Center’s objectives.

Objectives
The objective of the Digital Forensics and Security Center is
three-folds:
1. Perform research in Digital Forensics
and Network Security
and develop systems to:
i. Enhance and strengthen the security of computer
systems and networks so that they can withstand and survive concerted,
sophisticated security attacks aimed at crippling them, and
ii. Prevent, detect, and solve cyber crimes.
