USA-China Business Forum (Mar 14)

As globalization in the 21st century is making the notion of a global village a reality, businesses need to consider international partnerships in order to thrive in the marketplace. The United States and China, as the two largest economic powers in the Asia-Pacific, for example, have become closely connected in trade and business. Closer to home, China is DFW Metroplex's number one trading partner with over $7.16 billion as of third quarter 2004.

In order to pave the way for additional business relationships between the Dallas area and China, the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), American Chinese Federation of Industries and Commerce (ACFIC) and the University of Texas at Dallas will hold The United States-Chinese Business Forum on March 14 at the Omni Hotel - Park West located at 1590 LBJ Freeway beginning at 8:00am. This exciting event will feature experts from the CCPIT, the China Security Regulatory Commission and a delegation from the People's Republic of China comprised of nearly 50 high-level individuals from private industry and governmental agencies.

Presentation topics will include "Protection of Intellectual Property in China" and "Issues of Security and Exchange in China."

For registration, advertisement and detailed information, please visit the website at: http://www.acfic.org.

The conference costs $165 per person and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Early bird registration is available at $120 per person before March 7, 2005. Group discounts available for a group of 5 or more, please contact Helen Du at 214-912-0081 or e-mail at helen.du@comcast.net.

What's after iTunes? (Mar. 24)

Five years ago the question was "What's after Napster?" Today iTunes is the poster child of Hollywood in a far more complicated environment. Overall music sales are flat or down. Broadband, the digital home, and wireless are increasingly pervasive. P2P continues to thrive despite an adverse environment. Legitimate music services are popping up like weeds.

An expert panel spans the technology and entertainment sectors. Presentations and moderated discussions examine the convergence of music, consumer marketing, and technology during the 2nd Annual DallasBlue Future of Digital Music Forum at 5:30pm on Thursday, March 24 at the Swan Court in Richardson.
